First Draft
This is our first draft our film SMS. This draft mainly just contains the footage of what me and my group members had done when we was out filming. We all sat down together and worked out where we wanted to place each of the clips and what effect we would like it to give to the audience. At this point of our editing, it didnt take too long because we didn't need to put any transitions in or major editing at this point, we just needed to place all the clips to make sure it near enough reached 5 minutes long. When it comes to doing our second draft we are going to add additional features, for example music, sound effects and diegetic/non diegetic sound.
Second Draft
This is our second Draft of our short film SMS. The main purpose of this draft was to add the names of each person in my group somewhere at the beginning of the film. When we was trying to work out where to place our names, we had a bit of trouble because it wasn't fitting where we wanted it. In the end we had to place all our names in the bottom left hand corner of the screen so it is in the same place each time instead of it being in all different directions.
After we did this, we then went straight to the end of the film and added in the credits. The credits is mainly to let the audience know who is playing the male and female lead and also what roles we took within the making of the short film.
Third Draft
This is our third draft of our short film SMS. What we added into this draft mainly was the music that we was putting over the top of it. At first we had the song the throughout the whole 5 minute film but we got feedback from our teacher to use Diegetic and Non-diegetic sound aswell otherwise it would turn out as a music video and we didnt want that to happen. Taking this on board, we went through our film and tried to lower the music at some points and bring some of the sounds up, for example Chloe's phone near the end when she receives messages. When we go to making our final draft, we need to apply the text messages on screen, this way the audience will understand the film more.
Fourth Draft
This is our fourth cut for our short film SMS. In this draft, we changed some of the music within it. The main feedback we got back was to make sure there was more diegetic and non diegetic sound. The idea of this was so it wouldn't be more of a music video then a short social realism film. When we showed our teacher this draft, he said we needed to play around with the music even more. The main thing we needed to do was bring the background music down and the diegetic sound up. When we go to doing our final piece, we will make sure to do this.
